Lead Data Scientist

Purpose of the Role

The Lead Data Scientist is pivotal in driving the adoption and application of machine learning and artificial intelligence across the organization. This role involves identifying and solving complex business challenges through innovative statistical modeling, machine learning, and data mining techniques. The successful candidate will spearhead data science initiatives, engage with cross-functional teams, and provide thought leadership in AI and machine learning to enhance business decisions and operations.

Essential Functions

• Lead all data mining and extraction efforts, employing sophisticated algorithms to generate actionable insights from large data sets.
• Synthesize analytical findings to make them accessible for strategic decision-making by team members and senior executives.
• Advance the deployment of machine learning and artificial intelligence solutions throughout the company.
• Apply AI methodologies to meet specific business objectives, considering constraints such as data availability and resource limitations.
• Mentor and develop junior data scientists, fostering a culture of advanced data analysis and continuous learning.
• Translate business needs into data science objectives and deliverables, aligning projects with strategic priorities.
• Champion the implementation of best practices in ML, AI, and data science, and develop robust, scalable software solutions for new data products.

Qualifications

Required

• Bachelor’s degree in Statistics, Mathematics, Computer Science, or a related field.
• At least 7 years of relevant experience in data science, with a proven track record of implementing ML and AI models.
• Experience in building and optimizing data pipelines for machine learning models.
• Proficiency in deploying machine learning models and optimizing code on cloud platforms, particularly within the AWS ecosystem.
• Extensive experience with data engineering and various data science tools.

In Lieu of Education

* An additional 4 years of relevant professional experience, totaling 11 years, may substitute for the Bachelor's degree requirement.

Preferred Qualifications

• Expert ability to communicate complex concepts effectively across diverse audiences.
• Demonstrated expertise in utilizing a broad range of data science frameworks and tools.
• Advanced knowledge in model evaluation, tuning, performance enhancement, operationalization, and scalability.
• High proficiency in statistical modeling and advanced SQL across multiple environments.

Job Types: Full-time, Contract

Pay: $70.00 - $76.00 per hour
