Project Overview

This project focuses on improving the ability of advanced AI systems to perform complex legal reasoning rooted in bankruptcy, restructuring, and creditors' rights. We are building an AI legal assistant capable of drafting and analyzing Chapter 11 petitions, evaluating debtor and creditor positions, navigating complex reorganization proceedings, and producing structured legal analysis reflective of professional restructuring practice.

Who We're Looking For

Experienced bankruptcy and restructuring attorneys who regularly advise debtors, creditors, or committees in complex insolvency proceedings. Candidates may come from a variety of restructuring backgrounds, including:

  • Chapter 11 debtor-side or creditor-side representation
  • Creditors' rights and collections
  • Bankruptcy litigation and adversary proceedings
  • Out-of-court restructuring and workouts
  • Section 363 asset sales and M&A in distress
  • Bankruptcy appellate practice

Scope of Work

Selected experts will design and evaluate realistic legal tasks reflecting professional bankruptcy and restructuring workflows. Examples include:

  • Chapter 11 petition package preparation (schedules, SOFA, first-day motions)
  • Cash collateral and DIP financing motion drafting
  • Automatic stay relief motion drafting and analysis
  • Plan of reorganization and disclosure statement drafting
  • Section 363 asset sale bid procedures and sale order drafting
  • Proof of claim review, objection, and reconciliation
  • Preference and fraudulent transfer avoidance action analysis
  • Claims bar date administration and notice preparation
  • Evaluating AI-generated restructuring analysis for accuracy and completeness
  • Grading model outputs and providing structured feedback

Minimum Requirements

  • Juris Doctor (JD) or equivalent law degree
  • Active or previously held license to practice law
  • Experience advising on or litigating bankruptcy and restructuring matters
  • Ability to analyze complex debtor/creditor positions and identify legal issues

Ideal Experience

  • Chapter 11 practice involving plan confirmation, disclosure statements, or first-day motions
  • Debtor or creditor committee representation in complex restructurings
  • Experience with Section 363 sales, DIP financing, or cash collateral disputes
  • Bankruptcy litigation, including adversary proceedings or stay relief motions
  • Familiarity with PACER, CourtListener, or equivalent bankruptcy research tools
  • M&A or transactional experience in distressed contexts is a plus

Compensation

$125/hour for approved submissions. Additional ad-hoc expert tasks may also be offered at the same rate.

Timeline and Commitment

Ongoing initiative with flexible participation. 10–15 hours/week. Initial work expected within the first week after acceptance.

Compliance Note

Candidates based in California, Washington, or New York must have an Established Business Entity (e.g. an LLC) or establish one prior to being considered.

Pay: $125.00 per hour
